Description
This route offers you the chance to discover the Corona Forestal Natural Park while passing through ancient pine forests and ravines with views of Teide.
From the Ramón Caminero Recreational Area, a trail runs parallel to the TF-21 road and descends in front of the spectacular slope of La Resbala. Here you can see a stand of Juniperus cedrus, the Canary Islands juniper, next to the former home of the “camineros”, who were in charge of maintaining the island’s roads in good condition in the past.
The trail continues through the Corona Forestal Natural Park, under forests of Canary Island and Monterey pines, reforested in the mid-20th century, offering a stunning panoramic view of the mountainside and summits of the Teide National Park.
Before reaching the La Caldera Recreational Area, the route goes into a picturesque ravine of volcanic origin at the start of the Chimoche trail. In addition to the beauty of the surroundings, you will be surprised to find here a plantation of holm oaks, more typical of Mediterranean forest.
