Description
This figure of 8-shaped footpath winds its way through the flat areas of Malpaís de Güímar to take you on a journey through the history of this Nature Reserve.
Along the way you will be able to observe the traces of human activity that remain in the area, in a landscape that contrasts with the area to the south, practically unchanged since the volcanic eruption more than 10,000 years ago, where, despite the harsh conditions, the flora and fauna have managed to adapt successfully to this arid terrain.
The well-marked path starts at Avenida del Socorro, leaving the industrial estate to the right and then heads into the malpaís volcanic landscape, always following the wooden signposts. When you reach the furthest point, you will arrive at a panel displaying information about the area.
The return route runs along the eastern side, once again following the central part of the route towards the coast, until you reach the starting point.
This trail immerses walkers in Tenerife’s unique volcanic landscape, combining natural and cultural history in a unique experience.
If the trail is too long for you, you can do the shorter version by walking only the first loop of the figure of 8. Simply turn left before reaching the Mirador de Morras del Corcho viewpoint, which will take you back to the starting point.
