Description
This trail follows part of the historic Camino Real del Sur, once the main thoroughfare on the south of the island, passing through some fantastic examples of rural Canarian architecture.
From the cemetery of Chío follow Calle El Roquillo uphill, which will take you to the village of Chiguergue. Once there, take a left turn to continue uphill along Camino de Chirche.
When you reach the village of Chirche, designated heritage of cultural interest in Tenerife, take time to explore its beautiful traditional Canarian architecture.
When you reach the highest section of the route, continue towards El Jaral on the old Camino de Tágara. From here the footpath begins to descend and you will pass the abandoned rural settlement of Las Fuentes, with traditional houses carved into the bedrock.
The trail continues downhill along Camino de Montiel, which will take you to your destination, Vera de Erques.
