Preventive Measures Lifted on the Teide Stratovolcano Trails
The Tenerife Island Council Approves the Reopening of Summit Trails
On January 30, 2025, the Tenerife Island Council issued a resolution announcing the full reopening of the Teide-Pico Viejo stratovolcano trails, effective January 31, 2025.
The following trails are now open to the public:
✅ PNT 07 – Montaña Blanca – La Rambleta
✅ PNT 11 – Mirador de la Fortaleza
Please note that access to PNT 10 Telesforo Bravo (which connects La Rambleta with the Teide summit) requires a permit that must be processed through the National Parks Reservation Center.
Additionally, since November 2024, the following trails require mandatory reservation, which must be arranged through the Tenerife ON website on each trail’s information page:
🔹 PNT 07 – Montaña Blanca – La Rambleta
🔹 PNT 09 – Teide – Pico Viejo – Mirador de las Narices del Teide
🔹 PNT 23 – Los Regatones Negros
🔹 PNT 28 – Chafarí
Trail Requirements & Recommendations
⚠️ High difficulty: These trails are not suitable for people without high-altitude hiking experience or those with heart, respiratory, or mobility issues.
🎒 Mandatory equipment:
✔️ Long pants (worn or in your backpack)
✔️ Warm fleece jacket
✔️ Specialized mountain footwear
✔️ Water or hydrating liquids
✔️ Fully charged mobile phone
✔️ Flashlight or headlamp with extra batteries (especially for late afternoon, night, or early morning hikes)
✔️ In winter: gloves and a hat
