Description
This circular route takes you on a journey through the history of Ruigómez and Erjos, villages in the heart of the Teno Rural Park.
If you look closely as you walk, you will see various threshing floors concealed alongside the path, a testimony to the importance of cereal and agricultural activity for the economy of the El Tanque municipality.
The path starts out from Erjos along Calle Don Antonio Dorta Curbelo and heads out of the village.
After passing Casas de la Cuna, one of the oldest parts of this neighbourhood, take the turning on your left towards the isolated chapel named Ermita de San José, built in the 18th century.
From this point, head north along the old Camino de Los Llanos until you reach Pista El Guirre, which will lead you to the village of Ruigómez.
Continue south-west along Avenida Oriente and cross the road with caution to then take Camino de la Encrucijada, which leads to Pista de Las Tronqueras, bordering the municipality of Los Silos.
During this climb up to Erjos you will be able to enjoy the wonderful panoramic views that this route offers.
The track then becomes Calle La Unión, which marks the border between the municipalities of Los Silos, on your right, and El Tanque, on your left. Continue along it until you reach La Milagrosa church and cross the road to finish your route in Plaza de Erjos.
